During the 15th IPL season, Playerzpot, one of India's largest fantasy sports platforms, produced an ad campaign that drew the attention of both sports fans and casual viewers. The campaign included a series of films designed to promote the company's brand and services to a larger audience. One of the standout ads from the campaign, titled “Cricket ka Bhoot” features Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kiku Sharda.

PlayerzPot wanted to establish its presence and create a massive awareness & engagement campaign reaching out to the millennials and GenZ highlighting their fantasy gaming offering. The brand used Moj to effectively drive its message to its target group and decided to create an augmented reality game filter.

LenzGig (now LenzWork) developed an end-to-end AR game filter for #cricketkabhoot. Users have to play a virtual cricket game and they stand a chance to win Apple iPhone 13, HP Laptop, Go Pro, and exciting vouchers. This blog will discuss the filter's concept creation, execution, and end results.

Concept creation and execution

  1. When the user selects the filter, he or she will be given instructions on how to play - use your face to strike the cricket ball. The user's face will be covered within a bat on the screen.

  2. To allow the user time to respond to the ball, the game begins a countdown from 3 to 1. A "Cricket Ka Bhoot Sawar Metre" will also be displayed on the screen.

  3. The ball enters the frame from off-screen. The user must strike the ball by moving his or her face around the screen and timing it correctly. Every hit ball will have a score of "0,2,4,6".

  4. The ball disappears off screen and the score and Kiku Sharda’s GIFs appear, in the background, as the metre continues to run and the next ball is also bowled.

  5. The Cricket Ka Bhoot Sawar Metre will reach its maximum in 15 seconds, after which the frame will display the user's final score along with the campaign statement "Aap par bhaari matra pe Cricket Ka Bhoot Sawar Hai." PlayerzPot Par, Ab Asli Game Khelo, India Ka Naya Maidan. Kiku Sharda Gifs will be played alongside the game dependent on the users' scores.

 

Creating a fun, engaging & viral filter requires

  1. Great Filter Experience & Mechanics

    The First thing we did when we got the brief was to sketch out the end-to-end user experience down to the last details. We focused on how the filter would work, from launching the filter to the final state. We ensured that we had clear and concise instructions, UX writing, and iconography to ensure the user knew how to successfully create content with the game filter.

  2. Stellar graphics

    After chalking out the filter journey, we focused on creating great graphics that capture the brand's essence. Making sure that the static graphics and motion graphics were as crispy as possible was a top priority. We iterated various versions of the graphics and did small focus groups to gauge if the graphics were doing justice.

  3. Focusing on Sound Design

    Once we have the graphics in place we started adding sound design to give everything a sense of realism. We focused on the background music score selection and also the various sound effects that would add that extra layer of depth to the filter.

  4. Fine-tuning & Timing

    In the fine-tuning stage, we spent hours ensuring that the timing of the instructions, graphics, and sound effects was just right down to the last millisecond. Once we were close to the final filter we also tested the filter on various device sizes to make sure no graphics were breaking on smaller devices and also to make sure that the AR game was functioning as expected on lower-end devices.

  5. End State and Brand Recall

    In the end, we ensured the brand's logo and message were clearly visible.
